Origins & history

In 1975/6, under the direction of Rev David Ray, Dave & Di Morgan started both a youth club, on Friday nights in the youth hall, and a youth discussion group, which met on alternate Sunday evenings in their home.

 

The youth group, for those aged 13+, decided to call themselves "The After 8's" - nothing to do with the chocolates of the same name but because they met at 8 pm! As well as have discussions on various subjects the group also enjoyed parties, especially round Christmas time and even weekends away.

 

Some time later young siblings of those in the After 8's wanted their own group, so a new group started, meeting on the opposite Sunday Nights, called "Godsquad". By 1980 these 2 groups joined and became the "Sunday Joints" to allow yet another group to form, called "Teenscene".
