ACTIVITIES

The following are either church based activities or activities led by church members and as such are open to any member of the community as appropriate. Simply come along or call the contact listed. Also check the fortnightly notices for dates relating to these groups.  Further down the page (please scroll down) you will find a list of other regular activities that occur on our premises that may or may not involve church members but are not specifically church based or church run. Please make contact with the relevant people for these before turning up unless otherwise directed.

SUNDAY WORSHIP - see Worship page

PRAYER GROUP - meets on ALTERNATE Tuesdays at 10 am. Anyone interested in supporting the church's prayer life is welcome. Prayer requests for individuals or situations in our world are also welcome and will be treated in confidence. COFFEE@CMCC - our name for Coffee at Catshill Methodist Church Centre - a friendly welcome awaits from 10 am until 12 noon* on Friday and Saturday mornings - no charges - just a small donation requested for coffee/tea and a biscuit - and the chat is free! Money raised from these small donations are given to charitable causes and since first opening we've given over £18,000 to local, national and international charities. 

* During term time the coffee shop opens at 9 am on Fridays for parents/carers of children from local preschools, nurseries, schools etc to pop in for a free drink and toast. During the winter it stays open until 1.30 pm on Fridays with soup and a roll from noon.

RENDEZVOUS - meets fortnightly on Thursday mornings from 10 am - a place to relax, meet new friends, have a laugh, chat over a cup of tea or coffee. At 10.30 we hear a variety of interesting speakers for about an hour and we finish around 11.45. An amount of £2 is requested to help with the cost of speakers etc.

BUSY BEES - A group for those interested in crafts such as sewing, crochet, knitting etc. Meets on alternate Thursdays 10.30 am - 12.30). Call 01527-836146 for information

YOUNG AT HEART (previously called Tuesday at 8) - meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 normally in the youth hall. Speakers on a variety of subjects. 

BaC-Up GROUP (Bereaved and Carer's Group) - previously called Carer's Group - meets for chat, coffee and relaxation (and occasional speakers) on the last Tuesday of each month from 2.30 until 4 pm. A chance for carers and those bereaved to get support. All welcome. Contact Di (0121 445 3595) for more details or encouragement.

CHOIRS - the church has a choir that meets on Thursday evenings between 7 and 8 p.m. usually when preparing to take part in services. There is also a men's choir that meets between 6.15 and 7 pm when preparing to participate in services and other events. Email  miriambedford1955@gmail.com for details

Rainbows & Brownies  provides opportunities for girls from the age of 5 upwards to meet together for fun, friendship and activity. NHS retirement.jpg

Bromsgrove & Redditch NHS Retirement Fellowship exists to maintain friendships and make new friends amongst those retired from the NHS (or those about to retire) or social care and their companions. The group offers a range of social and leisure activities and meets on alternate Wednesdays from 10 am until 12 (noon) commencing January 7th 2015. Blackwell Concert Band rehearse on Thursday evenings in the church hall. It is a  fun and friendly band made up of over 60 players who play a wide range of music and perform at various venues around the region. Bromsgrove Amateur Strings is a very friendly training orchestra, formed to give adults and children the opportunity to explore the string orchestra repertoire and enjoy playing together. The standard ranges from approx Grade 3-8, and no audition is necessary. We perform from time to time, and past and present repertoire includes serious music by composers such as Handel, Purcell & Tchaikovsky as well as folk music and songs from the shows! Zumba with Kim meets Wednesday’s from 7.30-8.30pm. Kim is a ZIN™ Member and  licensed Zumba teacher. Zumba is an aerobic fitness programme featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music such as Salsa, Cumbria, Merengue and Reggaeton. Zumba can support a healthy heart, build muscle, improve coordination and flexibility, promotes healthy weight loss and can be a great stress reliever. If any concern about exercising you should check with your medical practitioner before starting. Classes are £5 each or 5 class card for £22.50 and you will need sensible footwear, a towel and water. Chloe May's Dance Academy is a traditional dance school with a modern twist. With a combined number of 300 dancers in Bromsgrove & Kidderminster, they are passionate about providing an encouraging, supportive and fun dance environment for all and strive to help dancers become the best dancers they can be. Dance classes are available from walking toddlers right up to adults. In Bromsgrove, they offer Ballet, Tap & Modern Jazz, Acro Dance, Cheer Dance and Adult Tap Dance classes. From thematic and story-driven classes for younger dancers (Melody Bear and Acro Antics) to IDTA and Acrobatic Arts classes for older dancers, there is an exciting world of dance available to suit all ages, personalities and tastes. There are also opportunities to take part in regular performances, shows, fancy dress days and more. All staff at the Academy are fully qualified teachers and/or industry professionals with enhanced DBS certifications. All teachers are First Aid trained. Trial classes are £6/£6.20 for children and free for adults. Classes run at Catshill Methodist Church on Thursday evenings and various other locations throughout the week.
